Objectives

The learner can write a poem/short text.

Materials

• Magazines and newspapers
• Paper, scissors and glue

Preparation

Cut out words and phrases from magazines and newspapers and compose a poem/short text.
You will find numerous examples googling ‘cut-up poem’.

Instructions

• Show and explain if necessary your cut-up poem.
• Explain the process.
• Give the learners time to compose their cut-up poem.
• Walk around and coach.
• The learners recite their poems to each other.
• Hang the poems on the wall.

Tips for the instructor

For beginners it might be easier to have some words or headings already cut out.
Put rhyming words together.
